Frustration

It's really frustrating when a person thinks it's okay to go to a party filled with drugs and alcohol and in the same week go to youth group. Tweet about "getting crazy" or "having the time of their lives" or "YOLO", then tweet a Bible verse, or how memories from missions trips or how much they Love Jesus.

You can't be a part time christian, it just doesn't work that way. Jesus didn't only think about us 4 out of the 7 days a week. He loved us so much that he opened His arms and died for us. The least we can do is love him back.

A Common Love

I spent this past week at Camp Spofford in New Hampshire. Myself and 5 other Urban Impact volunteers took 8 Prime Time students to the youth camp there. It was a great week for them to strengthen their walk with God. Before we even left for the week, I was nervous that since the Prime Time kids came from a different background than all of the other campers at Spofford, that they wouldn't get along with them or be able to make friends. The first 2 days it poured and we didn't get to hang out much with the campers because our quality time was normally spent swimming in the lake with them. But when the third day rolled around, the sun was shining and it was a perfect day to go swimming. Alexis, one of the kids we brought, introduced me to her friend Elise. I hung out with the two of them for the rest of beach time. I continued to stick with them and their other friend Grace for the rest of the week, getting to know all of them very well. One of the things I learned about Elise is that she is also from Connecticut, like Alexis and I, but she is from Cos Cob. Cos Cob is a part of the town of Greenwich. Greenwich is the richest town in CT, and Cos Cob is one of the richest parts of Greenwich. Alexis, on the other hand, is from PT Barnum. PT Barnum is a government funded housing community in Bridgeport. Bridgeport is the poorest city in CT, and PT Barnum is one of the poorest parts of Bridgeport.

As the week went on, Alexis and Elise grew closer and closer, and I grew closer to the both of them too, hanging out with them every chance I got. When the last day of camp approached, and Alexis and the 115 other campers packed their bags to head home, I held back tears as I saw the saddest of faces painted on Elise and Alexis as they had to say goodbye to one another.

These two girls, from two very different worlds became best friends because of their shared love for Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this world that has made me happier than being able to watch this happen.

Welcome back

I love this picture. I searched for 15 minutes the other day to try and find it.

There are just so many things about this picture that I love. Well, it's not really the picture because honstly it's a poor picture..Julia and Kelly aren't facing the camera and I'm awkwardly in the back. But it's what was going on in this picture that I love..

We were in Spofford. One of my most favorite places to be.
As you can see, Julia and Kelly were fitting into one skirt. I was laughing so hard. I'm always the happiest when I'm laughing.
And no one can make me laugh as hard as the people who were on that retreat can.
This was taken right before the Rave we had at 2:00 in the morning.
Dr. Ice is in the picture!
I'm wearing tie dye. Tie Dye makes me happy. It's a mixture of colors blended together all co-existing on one article of clothing to make a beautiful piece of art.
It makes me think of all the different people of the world one day co-existing on this one planet to make a beautiful piece of art, called peace.

This picture just makes me happy.

Frozen Hot Chocolate

This one time when I was younger my mom told me and my sister that Last Drop Coffee Shop had frozen hot chocolate and that it was so good and we had to try it. So my mom, my sister and I went and got some. We sat at the counter facing the window. My sister and I tried it while my mom was in the bathroom. It was so bad we spit it out all over the window. We quickly cleaned everything before my mom came out of the bathroom. We pretended we liked it and forced ourselves to finish it.

I remembered this story the other day and it made me laugh and miss my sister.

I needed it.

"Hey, St.Pierre wasn't supposed to be teaching here this year. And look at her, she's here right now. Remember, there's always a little bit of hope."

Thank God for people who say things like this.

I basically die every time I watch this. They are so talented to the point that it's almost unbearable.
